The agreement

By installing or using MacroCraft you agree to these terms. If you downloaded MacroCraft from the App Store, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies; where the two differ, Apple's agreement governs your licence to the app.

What MacroCraft is

MacroCraft is nutrition and weight-management software. It estimates your energy expenditure from what you log and how your weight trends, and suggests calorie and macronutrient targets.

It is not medical advice. Its targets, safety floors and rate limits are guardrails in a piece of software. It does not diagnose, treat or prevent any condition. Talk to a qualified professional before changing your diet, especially if you have a medical condition, are pregnant or breastfeeding, are under 18, or have a history of disordered eating. Stop using a target that does not feel right for you.

Your data

Everything you enter is stored on your device, encrypted, and is not sent to us. The privacy policy describes exactly what the app stores and the few requests it makes.

Because there is no account and no server, we cannot recover your data. Keeping a backup, and keeping its recovery key, is your responsibility. If you lose your device, your recovery key or a backup file, we have no copy to give back.

Food data

The bundled food database comes from public sources (Health Canada's Canadian Nutrient File and USDA FoodData Central), and barcode lookups come from Open Food Facts. Nutrition values from any source, including a label you scan, can be wrong or out of date. Check a value that matters to you.

Acceptable use

Use MacroCraft for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. Do not reverse engineer it beyond what the law allows, and do not use it to break the law or to harm anybody.

No warranty

MacroCraft is provided as it is and as available. To the extent the law allows, we make no promise that it will be error-free, uninterrupted or suitable for any particular purpose, and we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of it, including any loss of data. Nothing in these terms limits a right you have under the consumer law of the place you live that cannot be limited.

Changes

We may update these terms. The current version is always published here with its date, and a change that affects you materially will be published before it takes effect.
